Hey, I'm Tim. This is me and what I like to do.

I currently work at Industrial Light & Magic, doing VFX R&D.

Previously, I received my master's degree in Computer Science at the University of British Columbia, under the supervision of Robert Xiao and Helge Rhodin, with Imager Lab and the Computer Vision Lab, where I worked on acoustic reconstruction using machine learning and wave simulation.

I have also worked at Vital Mechanics Research, working on garment and soft tissue simulation.

When I'm not biking or exploring nature, I like to create my own worlds, usually with software, sometimes with Lego. Most of my software projects revolve around trying to capture or emulate organic complexity and chaos of one form or another.

I like to make music software, 3D renderings and fractals, and physics simulations among other things.

Take a look around. Please ask me any questions you have about my work.

Full Spectrum and Infrared Photography

A practical exploration of how a full-spectrum-modded DSLR sees the world, with many side-by-side examples of the same subjects seen in visible light, full-spectrum, and also pure infrared. Some lurking invisible things are made visible as well.

Geiger Counter Explorations

I was unexpectedly gifted a Geiger counter for Christmas one year. Over the next few months, I looked for sources of ionizing radiation in my daily life, and found a few surprising functions of the Geiger counter along the way.

Art installation at Toña

As of December 2025, one of my framed fractal prints is on display at Toña Bakery & Café.

October 2025 art show at The Weird Church

A series of framed prints of 2D fractals, 3D fractals, and full-spectrum photographs of mine were on display at the Weird Church Cumberland.

DIY full-spectrum mod on an old DSLR

I modded an old Canon EOS Rebel T6 DSLR to remove the built-in infrared- and ultraviolet-blocking filters, enabling the camera to see a little beyond the visible spectrum.
