October 2025 art show at The Weird Church

I've never been much of a church-goer, but the Weird Church Cumberland welcomes truly all walks of life with open hearts and minds, and a family member living in the area suggested apply for their call for artists for the gallery that is run within the church building.

My submission got accepted! Canvas prints of a selection of my 2D fractals, 3D path-traced fractals, and full-spectrum photographs were on display at The Weird Church for the month of October 2025.

A poster made to promote the show.

I've helped a painter friend hang up paintings for their shows at a local café in the past, so I came in with some idea of what to expect. This was my first public show though, and the Weird Church staff were superbly helpful and considerate throughout and it was a lovely experience.

Hey, come on in! We've got curious recurrences and real false colours! Would you like a mandelbulb?

"zostera spiral" - 2D fractal with texture mapping and shading, canvas print.

"intertidal i" and "intertidal ii" - full-spectrum photographs with 590nm lowpass filter, canvas prints.

More full-spectrum photograph canvas prints on the church wall.

The early October opening coincided well with the Cumberland Fungus Fest. The Weird Church helped out by hosting screenings of films on psychedelic-assisted therapy, and so my fractal prints had been hung on the church walls just in time for moviegoers to notice while hearing therapy patients describe the "intricate geometric patterns ... vibrant colours" they had seen. I was still new the Weird Church but this felt like an ordinary day there.

Me next to "mandelbulb" and fully-dressed for Fungus Fest.

A big thank-you to The Weird Church Cumberland for accepting and welcoming me into their gallery! It was truly an affirming experience and I look forward to doing more shows in the future.
